DisplayPort & Apple Mac's - by default, the standard connector on most of the latest Mac's (inc MacBook's, MacMini's etc) is a 'Mini DisplayPort' which is proprietary to Apple. You will either need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adaptor or a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor, which are available from the Apple Store or your Apple reseller.

Compact, High Resolution Screen
The S2243W features a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 1920 × 1200 native resolution. Thanks to its 0.247 mm pixel pitch and display of 103 pixels per inch, it shows 30% more information than a typical 22" monitor with a 1680 × 1050 resolution. It displays the same amount of information as a typical 24.1" monitor, but occupies 10% less desk space. This is ideal for offices and studios where a 24.1" monitor is desired, but cannot be installed due to space constraints.

Optimized Brightness with Auto EcoView
An Auto EcoView sensor on the front of the monitor measures ambient light and optimizes the screen’s brightness to levels akin to viewing a sheet of paper under typical office lighting conditions. Since the screen is never too bright, eye strain is reduced while power consumption is cut by up to 52% compared to operating the monitor with Auto EcoView turned off and set to the default factory brightness of 100%.

Direct Energy Savings
When the monitor’s power save mode and off timer function are set, it consumes less than 1.5 watts of power, and when turned off via the main power switch, it consumes no electricity at all. With today’s increasing office energy expenses, zero-watt power consumption saves electricity and lower costs over the long run.

Power Savings with EcoView Index
A user activated on-screen index shows the level of power savings in correlation with the monitor’s brightness to encourage environmental consciousness while working. When EcoView Index is fully illuminated, the monitor is operating at optimum energy efficiency.

DVI Input Level Adjustment
This feature compensates for image quality degradation that may occur when connecting a monitor with a signal switch box or via a long cable.

Individual Adjustment of Gamma
To provide better image consistency in multi-monitor environments, EIZO performs advanced gamma adjustment at the factory, which minimizes discrepancies among monitor gamma characteristics.

Fine Contrast Mode Selection
For optimum viewing of different kinds of content, EIZO’s Fine Contrast function includes modes for office applications (Text mode), video (Movie mode), graphics (Picture mode), web browsing (sRGB mode), and user-defined settings (Custom mode). Modes switch automatically with the bundled ScreenManager Pro for LCD software, or manually with the press of a button.

Wide Colour Gamut
The colour gamut reproduces 95% of the Adobe RGB colour space so it can display most colours in a photograph taken in Adobe RGB mode and cover most of the CMYK spaces used in printing. As with any monitor used in a colour accurate workflow, we strongly recommend using a hardware-based monitor profiling product such as the X-Rite Eye-One Display 2 or the Datacolor Spyder3.

Commitment to Quality
While outsourcing production is now common practice in the monitor industry, EIZO continues to manufacture its products the same way it has throughout its 40 year history — with its own staff at its own factories.
